Getting to know Fowler
Fowler is located east on Quincy on Highway 24, east of Bloomfield and west of Paloma. Fowler was founded in 1857 as a railroad stop. At that time, the village was known as Fowler’s Station. Compared to some other villages in Adams County Fowler has a bustling population of between 1100 and 1200. That make it a lively metropolis compared to other communities in the county.

The Fowler area
Looking at a satellite view of Fowler you can see it is a rural farming based community. Illinois is known for growing a large portion of the nation’s corn and soybean crops. Driving around the Fowler area you will experience just that. Very large fields of corn and soybeans everywhere you look. Corn and beans are not the only crops. You fill find poultry, cattle and hog farms too.
Like many small towns in Illinois, the pace of life is much slower. The slower pace of life for many folks that live there means a better quality of life. You have very low crime rates which lends itself to the population feeling safer. Neighbors know their neighbors. In a small town like Fowler, the residents pretty much know everyone in town either directly or indirectly. If they don’t know you personally they know you by reputation at least. The community is tighter knit. The small churches mean there are smaller congregations and the folks that attend know each other very well. People are more hospitable and friendly.
