Payson IL is a town in Adams County, Illinois, US. According to the 2010 census, the town has a population of 1,026 and total land area of 2.90 km2 or 1.12 sq. mi. It is home to Payson-Seymour High School and Payson-Seymour Elementary School. There are plenty of things to do in Payson. If you are in the town, don’t forget to include these attractions in your must-visit list.
Like many small towns in the rural farming areas of there is not a large number of businesses. Traffic is minimal unless it is a night when a sporting event is taking place in town. Traffic is always pretty light and you can make it from one end of town the other in 5 minutes or less. That is unless you get behind a farm tractor pulling one of those large implements behind it. They will definitely slow you down.

Fall Creek Stone Arch Bridge
One of the most notable historic places near Payson is the Fall Creek Stone Arch Bridge located a little over a mile northeast of Payson Road. The bridge was built in 1855 to span the Fall Creek. The bridge was engineered by Joseph Elliot. It is made from locally obtained limestone. These days the bridge is a only for pedestrian traffic and is a nice place to visit as a tourist attraction and to have a picnic.

Like most of Adams County, Payson is a rural farming community. There are many area farms growing staple crops like corn, soybeans and even one farm that is growing indoor shrimp. There are some poultry, hog and cattle farms in and around the community as well.
