Richfield IL is east of Payson on County Road 400 N in Richfield Township. Richfield Township during the last Census in 2010 counted 411 residents in the entire Township.

According to the history of Adams County the Township was first settled in 1828 by a Jacob Franks and A.N. Pendrod. Richfield had a more prosperous past in the 19^th century. The nearest town of any size if Payson. Then there is Liberty to the north and Plainville to the southwest.
